Long before Iman , Naomi or Tyra sat a step on the runway there was Donyale. Donyale Luna was the first African-American model on the cover of a Vogue magazine. Donyale Luna died on May 17, 1979 (aged 34)in Rome, Italy, in a clinic, after an accidental drug overdose.
