I was surfing on the web and I came across this photographer Mylou Oord, who used her friend Aynouk Tan as a muse for her photography. Mylou is a self taught photographer and isn't really interested in fashion photography. Her work mostly consists out of portraits because she likes working with real people rather than models without an interesting story. Her work was published in various exhibitions and magazines such as Blend and Mykromag. There are many photographers that work with people so why do I like Mylou Oord? I think it's because her photos are raw, real and personal and she's telling a true story through her photographs.

Alessandro Bavari
A friend of mine recommended this website of an artist named Alessandro Bavari. Not so strange because we both love weird, dark, unrealistic photography with a psychedelic touch. I really enjoy the way Alessandro Bavari uses digital manipulation and creates the kind of fantasy world we sometimes dream of but are afraid to remember. It's unreal but familiar. Using different human and animal matters, objects and architecture, pictures and landscapes, fossils and materials, which join his mental museum, also strongly influenced by indo-european cultural myths and allegories as well as 14th and 15th century artists.
He studied scenography, photography, history of art and various other topics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. Developing different techniques of oil, watercolors and engraving, experimenting with glue, industrial paint and exploring photographic printing techniques. Since 1993 he's been adding digital manipulation to his art, developping a personal artistic language using industrial and organic products from nature before incorporating photographic process, then computer digitalization, which leads to "a kind of contamination among the arts dissolving the boundaries which distinguish them".

Zdzisław Beksiński.
Okay it's time for something dark.
Zdzisław Beksiński (1929 – 2005) a Polish painter, sculpter and photographer was well known for his goth and baroque style art. His styles were dominated by representation, with the best known examples coming from his 'fantastic realism' period when he painted images of a surrealistic, nightmarish environment. Another style of him was more abstract, being dominated by form. The fact that his art is so dark makes it at the same time very pure and profound. The "vibe" of the paintings are very dreamy, haunting and mysterious..you can't quite get a hold on it...so what do u guys think?

Fred Farrow
photos by Peter Stigter
Another one of my favorite graduate designers of 2010. Fred Farrow. So the name was obvious but I didn't know who Fred Farrow really was. But for some reason I did. Cause the face that belongs to the name was from the guy who was sitting next to a teacher during my intake for the art academy ArtEZ. The guy from my intake was a really nice guy who actually showed interest in me. Looked at my drawings, asked questions and even asked me how I knew so much about the latest fashion. So I told him I had a blog with a girl I met during my old internship. He asked me to write it down on a piece of paper and so I did.
So back to the collection. Fred Farrow won the Frans Molenaar Couture Awards and starts working as a designer for Balmain in Paris after his graduation. The white fur embroidered jacket is my favorite. Also the loose fabrics that look like someone spoiled colored ink on the garments to create a perfect, almost magical feel. Great eye for detail and I love the styling. The models we're walking and I knew it. Yes that's from the intake guy. He may not remember me now but a piece of me believes he was part of the reason I got accepted.
