Zdzisław Beksiński.

Okay it's time for something dark.
Zdzisław Beksiński (1929 – 2005) a Polish painter, sculpter and photographer was well known for his goth and baroque style art. His styles were dominated by representation, with the best known examples coming from his 'fantastic realism' period when he painted images of a surrealistic, nightmarish environment. Another style of him was more abstract, being dominated by form. The fact that his art is so dark makes it at the same time very pure and profound. The "vibe" of the paintings are very dreamy, haunting and mysterious..you can't quite get a hold on it...so what do u guys think?

Marie Claire Magazine

Yay! my design that I made for Kymare came out in the august issue of Marie Claire magazine.

Sandra Backlund

Sandra Backlund has an amazing gift of creating silhouetted art in a three dimensional way. She uses different techniques and experiments but her three dimensional knitting with a touch of crochet is the most significant. Her handcraft process is very important and she sees it as a way of freedom. Since she was a little girl she used different handcraft techniques. Every collection of Sandra Backlund is fully handmade by herself. Her 2010 collection is the first one that goes in to production. Hopefully we can all own a Sandra Backlund knitted cardigan one day.

Britt Tan

One of my favorite graduating designers of 2010 is Britt Tan. Her collection Get Hustle has a colorful bohemian feel with a lot of different techniques such as draping and crochet. Using a lot of materials and colors and surprising accessories such as headscarves. The bathing suit with the knitted and leather piece jacket is my favorite outfit. It shows versatility and a great sense of personal style.

Fred Farrow

Another one of my favorite graduate designers of 2010. Fred Farrow. So the name was obvious but I didn't know who Fred Farrow really was. But for some reason I did. Cause the face that belongs to the name was from the guy who was sitting next to a teacher during my intake for the art academy ArtEZ. The guy from my intake was a really nice guy who actually showed interest in me. Looked at my drawings, asked questions and even asked me how I knew so much about the latest fashion. So I told him I had a blog with a girl I met during my old internship. He asked me to write it down on a piece of paper and so I did.

So back to the collection. Fred Farrow won the Frans Molenaar Couture Awards and starts working as a designer for Balmain in Paris after his graduation. The white fur embroidered jacket is my favorite. Also the loose fabrics that look like someone spoiled colored ink on the garments to create a perfect, almost magical feel. Great eye for detail and I love the styling. The models we're walking and I knew it. Yes that's from the intake guy. He may not remember me now but a piece of me believes he was part of the reason I got accepted.
